Xinhua Agency, Lusaka, October 22 (Reporter Peng Lijun) Zambian Vice President Nalumango recently expressed his gratitude to China and the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) for providing food aid support to people in drought-affected areas in Zambia.

The handover ceremony of China's cooperation with World Food Program to provide food aid project to Zambia was held in Lusaka on the 20th. Nalumango said at the handover ceremony that the drought has had a serious and long-term impact on Zambia, and this assistance is very timely, showing China's strong actions in helping developing countries cope with global challenges such as climate change.

Han Jing, China's Ambassador to Zambia, said that the project is jointly implemented by China, Zambia and the World Food Agency. It is a concrete action by China to implement global development initiatives. It reflects China's constructive role within the framework of the United Nations and will further strengthen the China-Zambia comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.

It is understood that relevant food aid projects are provided by the China government with financial support to the World Food Programme under the Global Development and South-South Cooperation Fund to provide food aid to needy residents in Southern and Western Provinces of Zambia affected by drought.
