Airbus 'new assembly line in China put into production China's attractiveness highlights

The second A320 series aircraft assembly line added by Airbus in China was officially put into production on 22 October in Tianjin. The international aviation giant's global layout of the model assembly line has reached 10, China's production capacity will account for one-fifth of the world.

Airbus's two final assembly lines in Asia are all located in Tianjin, China.

The Airbus second-line project covers a total area of approximately 300,000 square meters, including 13 individual buildings including the final assembly plant, painting hangar, final assembly and working group hangar. Production models include the Airbus A319, A320 and A321, and preparations are currently underway for the final assembly of the first aircraft.

Airbus Chief Executive Officer Fury said the expansion of Airbus’ industrial facilities in Tianjin demonstrates that Airbus is confident in the flourishing Chinese aviation market, China’s robust and robust supply chain, and the high-quality business environment, which will help Airbus its goal of monthly production of 75 A320 aircraft by 2027.

The reporter noticed at the production ceremony that just like when Airbus put into production its first assembly line in China in 2008, logos with the word "Qifei" in Chinese can be seen everywhere, and the English translation below it has changed from "Flying together" 17 years ago to "Flying higher together."

In April 2023, witnessed by the heads of state of China and France, the framework agreement for the project was officially signed, and the ground will be broken on September 28, 2023. "The world-famous 'China Speed' has turned the project blueprint into reality." Fu Li said.

In September 2008, Airbus's first civil aircraft production line established outside Europe was put into operation in Tianjin. Over the past 17 years, the Airbus Tianjin project has gone from "first line" to "second line", from single-channel to dual-channel aircraft, and from final assembly to delivery. China-EU mutual trust and win-win cooperation continues to deepen.

This year is the 50th anniversary of the establishment of China-European trade. China Aviation Industry Group Co., Ltd. general manager Wei Yuanping said that the launch of Airbus Tianjin's second assembly line reflects the strong resilience of China-European aviation industry cooperation, but also China's aviation industry adheres to opening up to the outside world, and actively integrates into the global industrial chain.

According to Airbus, the first assembly line located in Tianjin has assembled and delivered more than 780 A320 series aircraft, with users worldwide.Airbus A320 series has surpassed the Boeing 737 series, becoming the most accumulated aircraft in aviation history.

Currently, about 200 Chinese suppliers support Airbus civilian aircraft production, covering the entire upstream and downstream industrial chain, which makes all Airbus civilian aircraft models have Chinese-produced parts.

This year is also the 40th anniversary of Airbus’ partnership with China’s civil aviation industry, with China becoming the largest single country market for Airbus civilian aircraft, with Airbus’ market share in China rising from about 20% in 2008 to more than 50% now.
