OpenAI launches browser with ChatGPT as its core

The U.S. Open AI Research Center (OpenAI) on October 21 launched a new web browser with ChatGPT as the core, ChatGPT Atlas.

OpenAI said that Atlas looks and functions similar to traditional web browsers, but the core of its construction is ChatGPT. When browsing the web, users can seamlessly call ChatGPT to generate summaries, ask questions, and perform tasks directly on the web page. The browser also has a "browser memory" feature that allows ChatGPT to remember the content of a user's web page visit and retrieve this information when needed.

In Atlas, ChatGPT can also process tasks through "agent mode", performing better in research and analysis, conducting automated tasks, and planning activities or appointments. OpenAI said in a statement that browsers built on ChatGPT bring people closer to true super assistants, helping understand the world and achieve goals.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman called the launch of Atlas a "once-in-a-decade" opportunity to reshape the web browsing experience. The project is still in its early stages and more features will be rolled out in the future.

The company said that Atlas has been released on the macOS platform of the computer operating system developed by Apple since the 21st, and versions suitable for operating systems such as Microsoft Windows, Apple mobile iOS and Android will be launched in the near future.
