She said she decided to resign as the leader of the Thai Party and hoped that this would be the starting point for her resumption as the Thai Party. Thailand is entering a crucial transition period, especially in the upcoming general elections. She said that the Thai Party needs a thorough reform of its organizational structure, processes and thinking patterns. Therefore, she chose to resign as the leader of the Party so that the party can independently carry out reforms and build a brand new and better political party.

Petonthan also said that after she resigned as the leader of the party, she was still a member of the Thai Party.

According to Thai media reports, Petonthan resigned from the party's leadership position or the constitutional court of Thailand on August 29 ruled that he violated the constitution and dismissed his prime minister's position.In the Thai parliamentary election, the party's leader needed to sign the party's candidate nomination documents, and Petonthan resigned from the party's leadership position in order to avoid creating legal barriers to the party.
