Recently, the Myanmar military announced that military forces had cleaned up the notorious KK Park near the Myanmar-Thailand border.
In the KK park, 30 sets of star chain equipment and related items were discovered, as well as 10 single-tiered buildings, 100 two-tiered buildings, 20 four-tiered buildings and 2 five-tiered buildings; 20 single-tiered shops, 30 two-tiered shops; 15 single-tiered warehouses, 20 two-tiered warehouses, 10 four-tiered warehouses; 21 two-tiered buildings, 10 three-tiered buildings, 5 four-tiered buildings, 5 five-tiered buildings; and 2 single-tiered clinics. In the building, 1645 male workers, 455 female workers, 98 male security personnel (in total 2,198 people) were found.
In connection with this matter, in response to media inquiries, on October 20, the spokesman of the National Security Commission of Myanmar, Leyming Aung San Suu Kyi, said that the KKK Park Project itself involves the leaders of the Clan National Union (KNU), a case of economic interest, belongs to the private gain and illegal seizure of state-owned land.
Major General Zuo Mintun said that the KK Park is located on the River of the Dangin River on the Thai-Myanmar border, near the village of Maitodai south of Myowadi Town, and is the combat area of the 6th Brigade of the Kayin State National Alliance. We found that Karen National Union (KNU) leaders were clearly involved in the KK Park project. They illegally occupied and misappropriated state-owned land for profit. The news on October 20 also reported the matter, which shows that the land has neither received any legal permits nor is it legally operated. In addition, they provide paid protection to gambling businesses operating on the land. They use the money they earn to commit violence against the country and ethnic minorities. They are an organization that protects online gambling companies and has committed crimes against the region and the international community, including China and Thailand. I would like to say that the international community and ethnic minority people must unite and work together to oppose the Karen National Union."
