Reference News Network reported on October 21 U.S. President Donald Trump said on October 20 that he would give Hamas a chance to enforce its Gaza ceasefire agreement with Israel, but Trump also warned that if Hamas did not, the group would be “eradicated.”
Trump told reporters during a meeting with Australia Prime Minister Anthony Albanese at the White House: "We had an agreement with Hamas, and they promised to abide by it and perform well. If they don't keep their promises, we will destroy them. They will be 'eradicated' and they know it."
Trump also insisted that the U.S. military would not be involved in the fight against Hamas. He said that countries that have agreed to join the Gaza International Stability Force would be very willing to participate in the fight. Trump said: “In addition, if I agree, Israel would be in the state of action within two minutes. But now, we haven’t said to take action. We’re going to give it (Hamas) a little chance, hoping to use a little less violence. But you know, the organization is enjoying the use of violence.”
Trump said Hamas is much weaker now, especially since its supporter Iran was attacked by the United States and Israel earlier this year, so it is unlikely to continue to provide support to Hamas now. (Compiled by/Pan Xiaoyan)
