Trump tells Australian Ambassador to the United States: I don't like you

According to foreign media reports such as the Australia Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), on October 20, local time, when U.S. President Trump held a meeting with visiting Australia Prime Minister Albanese at the White House, he said to Australia Ambassador to the United States, Kevin Rudd,"I don't like you." Trump also said that if Rudd had "said bad things" before, he should apologize for it.

At a press conference jointly attended by the two sides, an Australian reporter asked Trump whether there were any concerns about the Albanian government, including the past remarks by Lukman against him. Trump replied, “I don’t know anything about him,” seemingly unaware that Lukman himself was on the scene.

Trump turned his head and asked Albani: “Did the ambassador say anything bad about me?” Albani responded with a soft smile, “Don’t tell me, I don’t want to know,” Trump said. Then he asked whether Luke is still in office in the Australian government. Albani smiled, pointing to Luke on the other side of the table and saying, “He’s here.” Luke answered, “These statements were made before I took this position, Mr. President.”

According to the report, Mark Zuckerberg, who served as prime minister of Australia, posted on social media in 2020 that Trump was “the most destructive president in history” and that the relevant post was later deleted. Last year, Trump also said Mark Zuckerberg was “disgusting” and that he was “not the smartest person” and that he “may not be in the position of (ambassador to the United States) for too long.”

Australian officials told ABC that after the meeting, Lukaku once again apologized to Trump and Trump said he had forgiven him.Australian officials said that the same day the two countries jointly signed an agreement to strengthen cooperation in key minerals and rare earth, covering many aspects such as mineral processing, capacity building and supply chain security.

According to the report, Albanese and the accompanying minister laughed off the episode between Trump and Kevin Rudd. Australian Foreign Minister Huang Yingxian believes that Trump's remarks are "obviously a joke" and that Kevin Rudd has "done a lot of work" in promoting the mineral cooperation agreement and the US-Britain-Australia trilateral security partnership (AUKUS).

Australian opposition Liberal Party leader Susan Leary said: “When an ambassador makes a laugh and the prime minister laughs at him ... he (Luke) may not be suitable to continue in that position.”
