Mexico and U.S. launch joint plan to curb border arms smuggling

On October 20, local time, Mexico and the United States jointly launched the "Firewall Operation: Joint Fight against Arms Trafficking" as an important part of the fight against the violence of drug trafficking groups aimed at blocking the flow of illegal weapons from the United States into Mexico.

The plan includes a number of actions, including strengthening inspections and controls on vehicles entering Mexico from the United States; deploying eTrace technology and ballistic imaging systems in all 32 states to track guns and share real-time intelligence; and joint investigation of arms smuggling cases.
