The Israeli Prime Minister¡¯s Office issued a statement on October 20 that the International Committee of the Red Cross earlier in the Gaza Strip received from the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) a coffin with the bodies of Israeli detainees, then handed over to the Israeli military forces.

According to Israeli media reports, Israeli troops in the southern part of the Gaza Strip inspected the coffin and sent it into Israel. The bodies were sent to the Abu Kabil Forensic Institute in Tel Aviv for identification. According to the Israeli side, at present, Hamas has handed over 14 bodies to Israel, but one of the dead is not an Israeli detainee.

The Jerusalem Post that the Hamas-owned armed group, the Qassam Brigade, issued a statement on Thursday saying that the remains of an Israeli detainee were found in a continuing search operation, stressing that any military upgrade by the Israeli side would hinder the search, excavation and recovery of the remains.
