In a recent article published by the East Asia Forum (EASTASIA FORUM, EAF), it is noted that in recent years, Chinese enterprises' foreign investment in the field of green industry has grown rapidly, becoming a powerful driver of the global decarbonization process.

The article written by Mausam Kumar, a scholar at Princeton University in the United States, said that since 2022, China companies have invested more than US$220 billion in agreed investment in global green industries, covering batteries, solar energy, wind energy, new energy vehicles and hydrogen energy, etc. Fields-China's manufacturing industry has strong competitive advantages in these areas. The financial and technical capabilities of China companies are working hard to support the global decarbonization process.

In terms of geographical distribution, Chinese enterprises¡¯ green investment has spread across Southeast Asia and Central Asia, the Middle East and North Africa, Latin America and Europe in 54 countries.The actions of Chinese enterprises have played an important role as a stabilizer in the context of huge changes in the current global order, decarbonisation processes and the uncertainty challenges of the Paris Agreement.

At present, China's foreign investment growth in the green industry is dominated by enterprises, mainly through market mechanisms. Chinese enterprises have the world's leading technology and production capacity, and their foreign investment has become a powerful driver of the global decarbonization process, and has made it possible for global Southern countries to carry out decarbonization joint projects.
