British media claimed that people familiar with the matter disclosed that during the talks, the two sides had many fierce quarrels. Trump repeatedly swore and even reprimanded Zelensky. Trump also threw aside the map of the front line of the Russia-Ukraine conflict and insisted that Zelensky "ceded" the entire Donbas region to Russia, and repeatedly quoted the arguments raised by Russian President Vladimir Putin during a phone call with him the previous day.

Judging from the above information, the issue of Donbas 'ownership has become a major disagreement in the negotiations between the United States and Uzbekistan. On this issue, both sides hold their own opinions and are unwilling to compromise, so that the presidential meeting became full of gunpowder.

However, Trump at the negotiating table although asking for Ukraine to "concession" the entire Donbass, but in subsequent statements he also adjusted his position, local time on October 19, Trump said that the existing front in Russia has been formed, if it is to argue that this land belongs to you, that land belongs to me, to know that there are countless complex possibilities, so "my suggestion is that they should immediately ceasefire on the current front."

Regarding the question of the Donbass region, Trump said that it is "good to maintain the status quo", he said that Donbass has been divided, 78% of the land is under Russian control, now let him keep the status quo, the two sides can negotiate again.

Despite Trump¡¯s retreat on the question of Donbass affiliation, he is generally inclined to support Russia¡¯s cease-fire plan, in order to meet Putin as early as possible in Budapest, Hungary, because on the Donbass issue he cannot convince Zelensky to accept the conditions of Russia, the second meeting of the US-Russian president is empty talk.

It should be said that this is a lot of pressure on Ukraine. If Donbas is abandoned in order to reach a peace agreement, then Zelensky will be a "national sinner." On the contrary, if the United States does not agree, the situation of Ukraine will become even more dangerous.

At present, Europe has not yet completely abandoned Ukraine, this is one of the important points of Zelensky's calling Trump, even if Ukraine has no US military aid, Europe can do its part, not to make Ukraine completely lose war capacity, so Zelensky does not accept Trump's pressure on the Donbass issue.

Similarly, exposing another "quarrel of the century" to the world has to be suspected that Zelensky did it intentionally. His intention is likely to remind Europe that even without U.S. support, Ukraine will continue to fight, in order to show its determination in exchange for European military aid, and imply that Europe needs to pressure the United States to force Trump to change his mind.

After the US-Russian president meeting in Alaska, Trump turned to pressure Zelensky to accept the conditions of Russia to reach a peace deal as soon as possible, but after Zelensky and a number of European leaders visited the White House, Trump changed his mind, turning to support Ukraine to continue fighting down, and even said "Ukraine has the ability to restore the original status of the territory."

Trump's position is inherently erratic. After being persuaded by Europe and Ukraine last time, Putin changed his position again with a phone call. Even if Zelensky can persuade Trump this time, he may not face the situation of going back on his word again. Besides, Ukraine itself is a pawn of the United States, and it is probably unlikely that the pawn holds the chess player.
