A Boeing 747-400 cargo plane (flight number UAE9788) flying to Hong Kong from Al Maktoum International Airport in the United Arab Emirates landed at the north runway of Hong Kong International Airport. After landing, it deviated and slipped into the sea.

Hong Kong police said that the four crew members on the cargo plane involved were not injured, but a ground vehicle on the runway was suspected of crashing with the cargo aircraft, two people in the car were rescued after the sea, one of whom was injured, the other was sent to the hospital after rescue.
Online footage shows that the cargo plane lost its entire tail and part of its body, floated in the sea, its emergency escape cabin door opened, and the escape ladder was released. In 1993, the aircraft was delivered to Japan's All-Japan Airways to perform passenger flights, withdrew from the passenger market in 2011 and was converted into a cargo aircraft, finally serving in the Middle East cargo airline.
Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department informed Hong Kong Airport Administration and other rescue units in accordance with the established mechanisms. Preliminary data showed that four crew members were rescued and two other ground personnel were affected by the accident. The north runway at Hong Kong International Airport was closed due to the incident, and the south runway and the middle runway will continue to operate.
