Putting aside the map of the front line of Ukraine, Trump asked Zelensky to "accept his fate"-either hand over the Donbas area or wait to be destroyed by Russia.
The above scene took place during Zelensky’s visit to the United States, during a meeting with Trump.
Zelensky thought he would gain something from his visit to the United States, but he was disappointed again.
According to US media reports, the meeting between Zelensky and Trump at the White House last Friday was quite tense.
Sources familiar with the matter revealed that the two men had "loud arguments" many times during the meeting.
Trump’s “dirty talk” throughout, most of the time teaching Zelensky, even putting the front map of Ukraine aside, warned Zelensky: Ukraine is losing this war, either surrendering Donbass, or waiting to be destroyed by Russia.
Trump said, “If Putin wants to, he will destroy you.”
Informed sources also revealed that Trump also repeatedly mentioned the core views that Putin mentioned the day before when he spoke to Putin.
People familiar with the matter said that Trump copied many of Putin's views almost word for word, acted as Putin's "repeater", and urged Zelensky to accept Putin's proposal, which made Zelensky quite "shocked and disappointed."
Zelensky was there to persuade Trump to provide Ukraine with a “tacksack” or to expand support for Ukraine, before which Zelensky had made two consecutive calls with Trump.
The two had a good conversation on the phone, so Zelensky decided to go to the White House personally.
Putin made a phone call to the White House and chatted with Trump for two and a half hours. It was after the "Shuangpu" phone call that Trump's attitude changed again, from considering providing Ukraine with a "Tomahawk" to "The United States also needs to keep it."
Including in this meeting with Zelensky, Trump once again reiterated that the United States itself also needs the "Tomahawk."
Without hearing Trump's explicit "rejection" word, Zelensky still felt there was hope. He said that while Trump temporarily did not agree, but did not refuse, it was a "good sign".
Obviously this was Zelensky’s forced retaliation, and CNN struck the ruthless reality – Trump had clearly told Zelensky that Ukraine would not get any US-made long-range missiles.
During the meeting, Zelensky’s only “harvest” may have been to ultimately succeed in convincing Trump to instead support “freezing the current front” rather than “giving out Donbass.”
Zelensky said he was willing to negotiate on territorial issues based on the current line of contact, and stressed that he agreed to negotiate in any form.
This was a major concession made by Zelensky, who had previously sought to reclaim the four states of the East, rather than negotiate on the contact line.
Obviously, Putin's pressure is effective. Putin had previously proposed that if Ukraine handed over the Donbas region, he was willing to freeze the front lines in other regions, but Zelensky disagreed.
Now, Putin has said that it is better for Trump to “understand human language”, and Trump has made such a compromise by pressuring Zelensky further in his own way.
Europe also learned of the meeting between Zelensky and Trump immediately.
A European official revealed that Zelensky’s sentiment was very low after the meeting, although not optimistic, but that Europe would remain pragmatic when planning its follow-up.
Europe and Ukraine were excited, and Trump finally lost patience with Putin, and they could take this opportunity to seek Trump’s expanded support for Ukraine, and now the situation is breaking their expectations.
Zelensky also suggested to Trump that he was willing to participate in the upcoming US-Russian meeting in Budapest, Hungary, but Trump has not yet agreed, and it may be clear that Putin "will not like the plan."
So in order to ensure that his meeting with Putin went smoothly, Trump did not respond to Zelensky.
So far, the latest round of US-Russian contacts has become clear, Trump once again shaken by Putin's telephone position, Zelensky's visit to the United States has been "learned" again, and he is not happy with Trump, and returns with empty hands.
Trump's stance on the Russia-Ukraine issue is capricious and is more inclined to recognize Putin's demands. Zelensky has no chips in his hands and no opportunity to choose.
In the end, Zelensky's trip to Washington ended in a huge disappointment.
Not only did he fail to get the dreamed “Tax” missile, but he made a crucial concession under Trump’s humiliating pressure – agreeing to negotiate on the current line of contact.
This marks that Ukraine's national goal of "recovering all territory" since the early days of the war has existed in name only.
All signs point to that the United States is pushing for a realistic solution based on existing battlefield dynamics, and that Ukraine will have to face a much smaller negotiating space than it expected after losing strong military support.
