Western media claimed that at the current pace of advancement, it may take until 2030 for Russia to control all four Ukraine states through special military operations; if it wants to take over the entire Ukraine, it will take more than 100 years. Zelensky claimed that after several years of Russia-Ukraine conflict, the Russian army had lost 1.3 million people, but only captured "1% of Ukraine's territory." Therefore, he believed that Ukraine had not lost and Russia had not won.

However, in order to avoid anger on the United States, Zelensky appears to have made a compromise, and in addition to avoiding talks about the "Taxic" cruise missile, Zelensky also suggested that a cease-fire could be pursued in accordance with the status quo, equivalent to Ukraine's default recognition of the Russian military's current control area. At the same time, Zelensky demanded negotiations in the case of a cease-fire, and he also seems to want to intervene in a new round of the US-Russian summit, which will be held in Hungary.
