Xinhua News Agency, Bogota, October 19 (Reporter Li Zijian) Colombian President Petro posted a message on social media on the 19th, responding to the offensive remarks made by US President Trump who called him a "drug leader", saying that he was "not a businessman" and "even less a drug dealer" because "I have no greed in my heart".

Trump posted on social media earlier in the day, accusing Petro of "doing nothing" in combating drug production, and claiming that from now on, the United States will stop "large-scale payments and subsidies" to Colombia.

Pedro told Trump on social media: ¡°Colombia has never been rude to America, but you are rude and ignorant to Colombia.I¡¯m not a businessman like you...I¡¯m not greedy.¡±

The Colombian Foreign Ministry issued a statement on the same day, strongly protesting Trump¡¯s threat to disrupt aid and personally attack Petro, and firmly opposing the United States¡¯ use of international cooperation as a tool for interfering in other countries¡¯ domestic affairs.

Colombia has been a traditional ally of the United States in the Latin American region.Since Trump regained power in January this year, the relations between the two countries have continued to be tense, with frequent friction on issues such as immigration, tariffs and anti-drug.

On September 15th, the United States determined that Colombia "failed to earnestly fulfill its international anti-drug obligations in the previous year" and cancelled its anti-drug partnership with Colombia. Colombia immediately announced that it would no longer buy weapons from the United States.

On September 26, Petro participated in a pro-Palestinian demonstration outside the United Nations headquarters in New York. The U.S. State Department revoked Petro's visa to the United States on the same day on the grounds that he "urged American soldiers to disobey orders and incite violence."
