The Netherlands and the United States joined forces to steal Chinese enterprises; the result was that the chicken stole the rice and baked itself on the fire.
In fact, the general mistake of the Netherlands, not only did not benefit, but also pushed the light engraving machine of the home pillar industry Asma to the "abyss".
Now it took another risk and forcibly "took over" Nexperia, a subsidiary of a Chinese company. As a result, only 6 days later, the Netherlands couldn't withstand the pressure and took the initiative to contact China to express its willingness to start negotiations.
The Netherlands suddenly stepped in
On October 11, 2025, Anshi Semiconductor's China executives suddenly received a document from the Dutch government, the content stunned everyone.
Freeze corporate operations, remove Chinese CEO Zhang Xuezheng, and select foreign executives within 72 hours on the grounds of "safeguarding national security."
Everyone knows that this is not a security censorship at all, but a naked “crawl”.
Even though Semiconductors are registered in the Netherlands, they are rooted in China from technology to finance, from production lines to supply chains.
In 2024, it will supply nearly 30% of electric vehicle power chips to global car companies, and 70% of its production capacity will be in factories in China.
The Dutch government took national security as an excuse, and in fact wanted to turn this Chinese company into a Dutch company.
What is even more surprising is that the Netherlands also found a "legal coat" this time: the Goods Availability Act, which allows the government to directly intervene in corporate management in the name of national interests.
Dutch Minister of Economic Affairs Karemans even publicly said: Security is very important to Europe and must stay in the Netherlands; but they have forgotten that who owns a company depends not on the place of registration, but on who holds the core lifeline.
Later, it became known that the Netherlands had a shadow of the United States behind it; the United States has been pushing the “principles of permeable censorship” for the past two years, requiring allies to look at Chinese-owned enterprises, especially in the semiconductor sector.
The Netherlands, the home of the light engraving giant ASML, has long been linked to the United States.
The United States spoke: without replacing the Chinese executives of Anselm, do not let its chips be sold to the United States. The Netherlands listened, and immediately moved his hand, and treated Anselm as a "candidate" for the United States.
But the Netherlands didn't understand one thing: Anshi is not a piece of "fat meat" that can be grabbed casually, it is a key link embedded in the global automobile industry chain.
The robbery of Anxiety is moving the life resources of global car companies.
China is not used to it
Faced with the robberies of the Netherlands, China did not rely on diplomatic protest as before, but directly unleashed the “combination kick”.
First, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The spokesman directly knocked out: The Netherlands is a violation of market rules, protectionism, seriously damaging the trust in the Sino-Dutch economy and trade; a word has torn the Dutch security excuse, and also made the international community see the essence of the incident.
In the second move, the Ministry of Commerce was even more ruthless, directly choking the Dutch "life gate".
On the one hand, export controls were imposed on Anselm Semiconductors: key chip components produced in Chinese factories were not allowed to be shipped to the Dutch headquarters; and Chinese enterprises, including Anselm, were also asked to stop cooperating.
In this case, Anselm's factory in the Netherlands became "empty shell", with 70% of the chip manufacturing capacity directly shut down.
On the other hand, China has tightened its exports of rare earth.
It is the key material for the manufacture of chips, light engraving machines, automotive engines, and 80% of the world's rare earth refining capacity is in China.
The Dutch ASML light engraving machine can not be separated from China's rare earth; European car companies to make electric vehicles, too, must rely on it.
Some people may ask, why is China so confident?
Because we have hard power in our hands, Anshi's chip design team is in China, the most advanced production line is in China, and even the suppliers supplying it with raw materials are mostly in China.
The Netherlands grabbed a "company shell", but it couldn't get the core technology and supply chain, and it couldn't play at all.
Unfortunately, I can’t stand it for a few days.
On October 15, it sent a letter to global car companies such as Volkswagen, BMW, and Ford. The content was very simple: "Because of the Dutch government, the chip cannot be delivered. I don't know when it will be delivered."
As soon as this letter came out, the global auto industry directly blew up.
The Dutch stoned their feet.
European car companies were the first to panic. The CEO of Volkswagen of Germany called the Dutch government that day, making it clear that its German factory produces 5000 electric vehicles a day. If there is a lack of Anshi chips, it will stop production next week, and asked the Dutch government to solve the problem and clarify the party responsible for the losses.
BMW and Mercedes-Benz also followed the pressure, saying that if the European automobile industry chain was broken, the economy would be severely damaged.
More interestingly, U.S. car companies, General and Ford directly to the Dutch embassy in the United States, clearly informed that in early November, U.S. factories will face a shortage of chips, and if the production line is shut down, the two sides will complain to the U.S. government and investigate the responsibility of the Netherlands.
The Netherlands originally wanted to please the United States by intervening in Nexperia, but in the end it offended local American car companies and ended up shooting itself in the foot.
At this time, the Netherlands only discovered that it had breached a great calamity, it thought that it had robbed Anselm, could please the United States, could still control the chip industry, and did not think that the global car companies were to blame.
The Netherlands has a small economy and a high dependence on foreign trade. It exports a large number of lithography machine parts and chemicals to China every year.
As soon as China restricts rare earths and chip components, Dutch companies can't bear it first; As soon as the car companies put pressure on them, the phone calls of the Dutch government were exploded.
Even more embarrassing for the Netherlands is that everyone has also discovered its "small calculator"; originally the Netherlands was so eager to grab Anselm, not only afraid of the United States, but even more afraid that Anselm would move the production capacity back to China.
If Anselm moved the factories back to China, Europe would have no place in the field of automotive chips.
But the Netherlands forgot that where the production capacity is, it does not depend on who controls the management, but on who can provide a stable supply chain and market.
China has the world's largest automotive market, has the most complete chip industry chain, and even if Anselm wants to move, the Netherlands cannot stop.
In just six days, the Netherlands 'attitude took a 180-degree turn.
On October 17th, Karemans took the initiative to call out to China: "We are willing to negotiate and hope to solve the problem of Anshi." But he still spoke with arrogance: "Anshi is very important to the Netherlands, and I hope it can stay in the Netherlands."
China did not respond immediately, not because it did not want to talk, but because the Netherlands had not yet recognized the reality.
Anselm is a Chinese enterprise, its future, it is not the turn of the Dutch finger; the Dutch first raised the table, now wanting to "negotiate" to finish, it is not so easy.
conclusion
This game surrounding Nexperia seems to be a battle for the ownership of a company, but it is actually a battle for global supply chain rules.
The Netherlands believed that relying on the United States and relying on the legal pretext, it could rob Chinese enterprises, and as a result, it was counterfeited by the industrial chain and became "popular".
China has used actions to prove that we are no longer the party that passively accepts the rules, but the "guardians of the rules" who have the ability to safeguard our own interests.
In the future, only by respecting the autonomy of enterprises and adhering to mutual benefit and win-win results can the global supply chain develop stably; If the Netherlands wants to understand this, negotiations will only make sense; If you still hold the mentality of grabbing and seeking peace, this game is far from over.
