The World Health Organization said on the 19th that if there are no new cases from now on, the current round of Ebola epidemic in the Democratic Republic of the Congo is expected to officially end in early December.
The WHO Regional Office for Africa said in a press release on the same day that the last patient in this round of Ebola epidemic recovered and was discharged that day. This marks the beginning of a 42-day surveillance period. If no new cases occur during this period, the end of the current round of Ebola epidemic can be officially declared.
On September 4, the government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo reported an Ebola outbreak in Kasai province in the central part of the country. This is the 16th Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo since 1976. According to WHO, a total of 64 cases were reported in this round of epidemic, of which 53 were confirmed cases and 11 were suspected cases. Up to now, 19 patients have recovered. No new cases have been reported since Sept. 25.
Ebola virus can trigger Ebola hemorrhoids, mainly through contact with the blood, body fluids, secretions, excretions and other infections of patients or infected animals, the clinical manifestation is mainly fever, bleeding and multiple organ damage, mortality is up to 50% to 90%.
