Ukrainian leader Zelensky, speaking to reporters in Washington, D.C., made a clear reference to Russian President Putin's attitude toward himself, said Putin "hates" him, and stressed that this feeling is mutual.
When the reporter directly asked whether the expression "Putin hates me" was accurate, he confirmed it.
Then he was asked,"Do you hate him?" Zelensky responded firmly. It would be abnormal to hold different views in the face of those who "tried to kill us all", and then made it clear that "I have the same attitude towards this person", clearly conveying the opposition between the two sides.
Zelensky talks about ceasefire and arms aid
Zelensky has openly supported Trump’s call for an immediate ceasefire on the current front, a position that has raised concerns about the course of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
Regarding the key issue of whether the United States will provide Kiev with long-range Tomahawk cruise missiles, he took a cautious attitude and refused to disclose any specific information.
But he also hinted that no substantial progress has yet been made in the negotiations on the arms aid, while stressing that "we must make more efforts in this area", indicating that Ukraine is still actively pushing for relevant aid.
Putin proposes conditions for talks and ceasefire
When talking about the possibility of meeting with Zelensky, Putin expressed his willingness to meet, but the prerequisite for the meeting is very clear, that is, it is limited to the final stage of negotiations after the peace treaty is ready to be signed.
In addition, he once again questioned Zelensky's legitimacy, specifically pointing out that Zelensky's five-year presidential term has expired in 2024, while Zelensky refused to hold new presidential elections on the basis of his current detention, a situation that became the main basis for Putin to question his legitimacy.
Moscow has put forward a series of clear preconditions for the ceasefire, including that Ukraine must withdraw its troops from Russian areas it controls, and demanded that the West stop all military aid to Kiev.
In addition, Putin further proposed that Ukraine needs to formally recognize Russia's new borders and must abandon its plan to join NATO. Together, these conditions constitute Russia's core demand for agreeing to a ceasefire.
