Zelensky ate a closed-door meal at the White House, and the Ukrainian delegation came with a map of "Russian weaknesses" hoping that the United States would provide "Tax" cruise missiles, but the result was ruthlessly rejected by the United States. At the same time, the US-Russian also made a call.
Of course, the territory to be cut by Russia, strictly speaking, is Ukraine, because the Russian side meant that it could cut down the areas of Zaporozhye and Herzong, which are now under Russian control, in exchange for the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from Donetsk, that is, the entire region of Donbass, including the Lugansk, will be controlled by Russia. In exchange, Kiev may recover some of Zaporozhye and Herzong, and it is not clear whether it includes the outlet to the Sea of Azov.
Obviously, Russia has expressed its willingness to "exchange two for one" attitude, but ceasefire conditions like these have also caused huge controversy in the West. Now the United States and Europe seem to be at odds over this issue. The White House believes that this is a breakthrough result of the Russia-Ukraine ceasefire, but Europe believes that this is tantamount to asking Ukraine to "sell its legs." It would be strange if Zelensky could agree.
Zelensky also talked about the territory of Ukraine during the refusal to go to the White House negotiations, and claimed that this could be the biggest difficulty of a Russian-Ukrainian ceasefire. Under pressure from the United States, Ukraine no longer demanded a "war-ax" cruise missile, but instead demanded an immediate ceasefire. Now Kiev also seems to have made a compromise, because the United States meant a ceasefire on the ground, both Russians and Ukrainians may need to maintain the status quo, and Ukraine no longer seems to require a Russian withdrawal.
However, the difficulty is too great for Zelensky to agree to a settlement. Even if Russia is willing to compromise on a part of the Russian-controlled area, Ukraine is unacceptable. Of course, this also depends on the U.S. attitude, and if the U.S. continues to reduce support for Ukraine, Ukraine will be in a difficult situation. The White House now refuses to comment on whether Ukraine should be cut, which is itself a statement.
