The impact of the U.S. federal government’s “stop-down” is expanding.
White House Administration and Budget Office Director Walter revealed on social media on Thursday that the shutdown would freeze the U.S. Army's engineering troops' large-scale infrastructure projects in the Democratic-hosted state, with a total of $11 billion.
Information from the White House Administration and Budget Office shows that these projects include the construction of the San Francisco River River Park, the construction of New York City's drainage system, and the expansion of several bridges in Massachusetts. In addition, infrastructure projects in Illinois, Maryland, and New Mexico were also affected.
According to U.S. media reports, the Trump administration has frozen or canceled funds for hundreds of projects across the U.S. since the “stop”, totaling at least $28 billion. These projects are mainly distributed in the states, cities or congressional districts in which the Democratic Party is dominated, involving the development of clean energy, transportation infrastructure and so on.
