Yemen's Houthi armed forces attacked a residential district of United Foreign Employees in Sana'a on the 18th, detaining several UN personnel.
A Yemeni security official said Houthi militants forcibly broke into residential areas of UN employees, detained several staff members, confiscated their phones, and began interrogating some of them.
Two sources working in UN agencies in Yemen said that the residential complex is home to foreign employees working for multiple UN agencies and organizations, as well as dozens of Yemenis working in the service and security sectors.
Abdul Malik al-Hussein, leader of the Houthi armed forces in Yemen, said in a televised speech on the 16th that there are "dangerous spy groups" within humanitarian organizations operating in Yemen. They assisted Israel in attacking the Houthi armed forces in Sanaa in August.
