In order to allow more tourists to find themselves when searching for tourist destinations online, the Italian coastal town of Valekrosia decided to add "Marina" to its name. The reason for the name change involves that the current name used by the town is "not worthy of its name", resulting in the search engine algorithm being "misguided".

The town of Valecroix is located in the coastal area of the Liguria region in northwest Italy, close to the Mediterranean Sea, not far from the French border, with 6,800 inhabitants.

The news agency quoted Mayor Fabiano Perri as saying that in Italian, ¡°Valle¡± in Vallecrosia means ¡°valley¡±, leading to many uninformed tourists often being directed to other destinations with competitive relations when searching for seaside resorts.

¡°The problem is that the algorithms classify us as valleys, as if we were in an inland area,¡± Perry said, ¡°resulting in tourists being directed to the beaches of nearby towns.¡±

Several market studies commissioned by local government agencies have shown that a name change or an effective solution to this problem is possible, so Perry suggested adding the word "shore" to the town name.

At the moment, the parliament of this small town has approved the change of name to "shore Valley Croix". however, the relevant resolution will also be submitted to the entire city's residents "referendum", with the simple majority support can come into force, and Perry expects the change of name plan will be passed smoothly.

Except for the name change, everything else in the town remains unchanged.The postal code remains unchanged, and existing documents will be automatically updated for the name, but its legal effect remains unchanged.
