The Israeli Prime Minister¡¯s Office issued a statement on the morning of 18 October that Israel had received a body of a detained person from the International Committee of the Red Cross in the Gaza Strip that day.

The Israeli military said that the International Committee of the Red Cross received the coffin containing the remains from the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in the Gaza Strip on the evening of the 17th and then handed it over to Israeli forces. The body is being sent to a forensic research institute in Tel Aviv for identification.

So far, Hamas has handed over 11 bodies to Israel. Israel said that one of the dead was not an Israeli detainee.

According to the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, Israel and Hamas began personnel exchanges on the 13th. Hamas released a total of 20 Israeli detainees in two batches that day and handed over the remains of 4 detainees; Israel released nearly 2000 Palestinian prisoners and detainees. Since then, Hamas handed over a total of seven bodies to Israel in three times.

Israeli Foreign Minister Saar posted on social media on the 17th that Israel is committed to implementing the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, but Hamas has not yet returned the remains of the remaining Israeli detainees. Hamas recently reiterated that Hamas is still committed to implementing the ceasefire agreement, but it will take some time to hand over all the bodies. The reason is that some bodies are buried in tunnels destroyed by the Israeli army and in the ruins of buildings bombed by the Israeli army. To find these bodies, Israel must allow heavy machinery and excavation equipment to enter the Gaza Strip.
