He fell off a cliff while climbing a mountain with his family
Only the eldest son was with him when the incident occurred
According to Red Star News, citing the Spanish National newspaper, 71-year-old Andy loves climbing and walking and is in good health.
The source said he was travelling with his son Jonathan Andich in a “difficult area” at the time of the incident. At about 12:30 on the same day, Jonathan called an emergency call. The Spanish medical emergency system sent a medical helicopter and an ambulance to the scene.
Police said Andic went to the area with several family members, but only his 43-year-old eldest son Jonathan was accompanying him when the accident occurred. Police have questioned Jonathan to investigate the details of the accident. Sources said the psychological support team has been soothing the families. At the same time, the local police's mountain rescue team was responsible for removing the bodies from the accident site.
Jonathan told police that he was walking in front of his father when he suddenly heard the sound of rocks and sand sliding down. After turning his head, he saw his father slip and try to grab something around him, but eventually fell into the deep valley.
Spanish Prime Minister Sanchez praised Andy on social media for "his diligence and business vision to turn a Spanish brand into a global fashion leader."The president of the Spanish Federation of Business Organizations regretted Andy's death, noting it was "an enormous loss for Spanish business."
Is Spain's fifth richest man
The company has reached 200 stores in Hong Kong.
Isaac Anditch was born on October 1, 1953 in Istanbul, Turkey, to a Sephadi Jewish family, and emigrated with his family to Barcelona in the Spanish Catalan region as a child.
In 1972, Andic entered the textile industry, importing hand-embroidered shirts and clogs from Turkey to sell in boutiques in Barcelona and Madrid.
In 1984, Andic cooperated with his brother Naman to open the first Mango store in Barcelona. The brand name was inspired by his experience of tasting mangoes while traveling in the Philippines. Then Andici quickly opened dozens of stores in Spain and abroad, starting with neighbouring Portugal and France, all under the name Mango. De Vicente, global retail director at Mango, said, "Andichi realized that having the same name and the same brand in all stores would make the concept even stronger."
Under the operation of Andic, Mango has rapidly grown from a small store to a global fast fashion giant. At present, the company has nearly 2,800 stores in more than 120 countries and regions, with revenue of 3.33 billion euros in 2024. The supply chain is dominated by Turkey and China.
Prior to his death, Andy was the richest person in Catalonia and the fifth richest person in Spain, with net assets of about $4.5 billion (about RMB320.7 billion), and family total assets of more than €8 billion (about RMB6.5 billion).
The eldest son's testimony is inconsistent and inconsistent with the scene
Father’s relationship is bad.
Anthony’s eldest son, Jonathan, was born in 1981 and was a member of the Executive Board of Mango, and was appointed by his father as the company’s successor in 2012. Before Andy’s death, his conflict with his son, Jonathan, intensified due to corporate management and financial differences, and Jonathan’s daughter-in-law, Estefanny, mentioned in his testimony the “bad father-child relationship.”
The police initially regarded this incident as an accident, and the case was quickly closed in January this year. However, the testimony provided by Jonathan was inconsistent, and the incident was inconsistent with the investigation results of the cliff scene, which aroused the suspicion of the police, and the investigation was restarted in March.
The case made significant progress at the end of September, with police officially listing Jonathan as the main suspect, switching from an accident to a suspected murder case, police have seized Jonathan’s mobile phone, analyzed his mobile phone data, location records, and investigated issues such as father’s financial disputes and legacy interests.
The case is currently in a strictly confidential stage and is under the responsibility of an investigative court in Barcelona. The Andic family said through a spokesperson that they respect the investigation process and firmly believe in Jonathan's innocence and look forward to clarifying the facts as soon as possible.
