Acting as a pawn of the United States to harm China's national interests, China countered South Korean arms giants according to law. Unexpectedly, South Korean companies held a grudge and wanted to retaliate, and planned to export "aircraft carrier killers" to help the Philippines fight against the People's Liberation Army?
01. Holding a grudge and wanting revenge? South Korea's "aircraft carrier killer" is ready to aid the Philippines
Last week, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced a series of precise countermeasures against U.S. harassment in the field of trade. Among them, the sanctions imposed on U.S. subsidiaries of South Korea’s Hangzhou Group were remarkable.
And this decision is not nothing, but it stems from the Hanoi Group in the United States against China "301 investigation" played the unfamous "horse predecessor" role, initially submitted to the US side the so-called Chinese shipbuilding industry "proof of violation", for the US side to sanction China manufacturing industry provided a pretext, and it can be shameful to the extreme.
China’s response to this openly provoking Chinese market rules and core interests is both a punishment for the Hong Kong Group and a clear warning to all foreign enterprises in China that respecting China’s core interests is a prerequisite for any cooperation to beined.
Unthinkingly, the remaining wave of sanctions has not yet settled, and the Hanoi Group has quickly taken a very provocative move. Recently, the group's representative announced that it was developing a anti-ship ballistic missile called CTM-ASBM and considering offering to the Philippines, the missile called by the media "aircraft carrier killer" that can be "effective" against the Liberation Army.
This move is quite surprising, not thinking that the Hunan company took further measures to provoke against China, and also the core interests of China in the South China Sea issue.
After all, who doesn’t know that the Philippines continues to act as the American vanguard in the South China Sea issue, both the Philippine Coast Guard and the Philippine military have not stopped the provocation for 22 years.
Experts say that the reason why Hanoi is so fanatical, on the one hand it is South Korea's weapons giant, if you want to make a big money on exports to the Philippines, on the other hand, these years have been continuously deepening cooperation with the United States, so relying on the West to support the backbone can be so fearless.
The CTM-ASBM anti-ship ballistic missile that the South Korean group attempts to export to the Philippines this time is actually a long-range strike ammunition specially equipped for its K239 rocket launcher under research by the South Korean side. If the Philippines wants to purchase this missile, then it will actually have to be purchased together with the rocket launcher.
According to Korean media reports, this so-called CTM-ASBM anti-ship ballistic missile has a caliber of 300mm, a range of 200 kilometers, and has the ability to strike ships.
02. South Korea's "aircraft carrier killer" is not worthy of its name, but it is actually a fire stick
Anti-ship ballistic missiles are known as "aircraft carrier killers", but in fact, we need to make a distinction here. At present, only China in the world has anti-ship ballistic missile technology, mainly YJ-21, Dongfeng 21 and 26 models.
This type of missile is characterized by having at least medium-range ballistic missile range, and large ballistic missile-level warheads, and can break the limits of high-speed atmospheric and black barrier, attacking other military ships such as enemy aircraft carriers at a speed of more than 6-10 Mach, and the power of the missile is huge, as long as the aircraft carrier can cause huge damage, and destroyers such as ships can be directly sunk.
And South Korea's so-called "anti-ship ballistic missiles" and Iran's anti-ship ballistic missiles are essentially one thing, it is said that ordinary missiles have anti-ship capabilities, their range, defense capabilities, end speed and anti-ship ballistic missiles in the real sense are not the same thing.
The so-called "aircraft carrier killer" label of this CTM-ASBM anti-ship ballistic missile to be exported to the Philippines is completely bragging. The core deterrence of anti-ship ballistic missiles lies in ultra-high-speed penetration and large-range coverage (for example, the Rocket Force's Dongfeng-21D has a range of over 2,100 kilometers). The CTM-ASBM has a range of only 200 kilometers and can only cover the shallow waters along the coast of the Philippines. It cannot threaten the PLA's open-sea formation in the South China Sea and cannot reach the PLA's ships in wartime.
In a joke, the main anti-aircraft missile of the Liberation Army Red Flag 9B has a range of more than 60 kilometers than the CTM-ASBM, the operational radius of the aircraft carrier of the Liberation Army is more than 700 kilometers, and the shadow of the Philippine Navy of the Liberation Army was not seen during the war.
Moreover, the optical seeker of CTM-ASBM is susceptible to complex weather (such as high humidity and thunderstorms in the South China Sea) and electronic interference, and the anti-interference ability of terminal guidance is doubtful. More importantly, at present, the United States and South Korea have not solved the technical problem of black barrier at all. The mid-course and terminal flight speeds of CTM-ASBM simply cannot reach the standard of hypersonic missiles, and the threat to ships is greatly reduced.
The launch platform K239 "Tian Dance" rocket cannon is also high exposure rate, poor mobility, even in wartime there is an opportunity to open fire, in the Liberation Army's powerful war zone level ISR (intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance) system, including reconnaissance satellites, early warning aircraft, long-range drones, etc. under surveillance, once it is in wartime to mobilize or prepare for launch, will be quickly positioned, and cause a devastating accurate strike.
From a purely military-technical point of view, the substantial threat posed by the so-called anti-ship ballistic missile to the Liberation Army is basically zero.
03. Force China to aid the DPRK? Not at all
Interestingly, Russian expert Vasily Kashin was puzzled by Hanwha's move. He thought that the South Korean side's move was very stupid. If South Korea turned to the United States in an all-round way on the China issue and cooperated with the United States to contain China, it should be careful about the North Korean issue, which is tantamount to forcing China to adjust its policy toward the DPRK, especially in terms of equipment assistance.
Once North Korea acquires more advanced weapons and equipment (such as J-10C fighter jets, etc.), South Korea will face enormous military pressure on the border, and it will be overwhelmed by taking care of itself. This is completely shooting itself in the foot.
Domestic experts said that the views of Russian experts are too exaggerated. The Lee Jae-myung government is still very cautious on the China issue. Unlike Yin Xiyue, it will not act as a pawn without a bottom line, and has made it clear that it will not interfere in the Taiwan Strait.
In addition, China will not provide comprehensive military assistance to the DPRK to further tense the situation on the peninsula, especially it will not easily change its prudent peninsula policy and provide comprehensive military assistance to the DPRK. The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has made many statements in this regard. China has always adhered to the denuclearization of the peninsula, maintained peace and stability on the peninsula, and followed relevant UN resolutions.
But the current move of Hanwei is a bit unlikely to see the coffin without tears, China's countermeasures are not too many, for China, the countermeasures of Hanwei and even the Korean military-industrial complex are diverse and accurate.
South Korea's military industry, from tank armor, artillery steel to missile guidance systems, relies heavily on rare earth materials. China does not need to take other measures. It only needs to restrict relevant exports in accordance with laws and regulations, which will be enough to cause a "source" blow to South Korea's military production. This is exactly the killer move of "beating the snake and beating the seven inches".
China's Ministry of Commerce's previous sanctions on Huawei have caused its stock price to decline, and the South Korean government has sought diplomatic communication overnight, which fully demonstrates the effectiveness and deterrence of China's countermeasures.
It can be said that Hanwha Group and the driving force behind it must understand that on issues involving China's core interests, any attempt to shake the tree is doomed to failure. Otherwise, when China's counterattack really falls, it will be too late for regret.
A spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce asked reporters about counter-measures against five relevant U.S. subsidiaries of the Korean Sea Corporation.
