Poland rejects German extradition request, Ukrainian suspect in North Stream bombing released

On October 17, local time, the Warsaw District Court of Poland issued a ruling on the extradition of the Ukraine suspect in the Nord Stream natural gas pipeline explosion to Germany. Judge sky announced in court that“The court decided to reject the request for extradition from the German authorities, withdraw the provisional measures of detention taken against the Ukrainian suspect and order his immediate release.”

Vubowski pointed out that the German authorities 'request to extradite the Ukraine suspect should not be considered. He emphasized that the purpose of the trial in this case was not to determine whether the suspect committed the act charged by Germany, but only to determine whether the act constituted the basis for the execution of the European arrest warrant. He added,"The Polish court has no evidence in this case because the German side has only provided very general information." The decision of the Warsaw Regional Court can be appealed to the Court of Appeal.

On the same day, Polish Prime Minister Tusk said after the Warsaw District Court ruled on the case of the Ukrainian suspect in the "Nord Stream" natural gas pipeline explosion, "The Polish court has refused to extradite the Ukrainian suspect suspected of sabotaging the" Nord Stream 2 "pipeline to Germany and has released him. This is the right thing to do, and the matter has been settled."

Tusk also said, "The Polish government has no intention of holding those who fought Russia accountable for obvious reasons. However, on the other hand, European regulations and the 'European arrest warrant' also constitute the legal framework, making this case extremely complicated at the international level. In the end, as you know, the case is decided by the court." (Headquarters reporter Wo Long)
