Recently, the case of Korean citizens being tricked into Cambodia and abused has aroused concern. A rescued victim recalled that his escape process was like a "movie plot". After being beaten half to death, he finally escaped from the fraud park, but at the Phnom Penh Police Station, he saw the Chinese criminals who kidnapped himself smoking and joking leisurely with the director with guns. "I was trembling with fear".
There are frequent incidents of fraud and detention against foreigners in Cambodia, and there are many Chinese members in criminal organizations. The picture shows the fraud suspect who was previously arrested by the Cambodian police, not a news party. (AP file photo)
According to South Korea's Chosun Ilbo, Mr. A, who is in his 20s, is engaged in the auto parts business in South Korea. During a business trip to Cambodia last year, he received an invitation from a company that claimed to process parts at a low price and promised to pay for a one-way ticket.
After arriving at Phnom Penh International Airport, a Chinese and a Cambodian came to pick up the plane. After boarding the car, the other person immediately turned in the face, and the Chinese with a gun threatened Mr. A: “Keep silent, honest.”
The criminal organization took Mr. A to the park and imprisoned him, during which time two China criminals were monitored 24 hours a day with knives and guns. He was forced to open an account in the name of himself and his family and asked his family in South Korea to remit money, otherwise he would be electrocuted and beaten. More than ten days later, Mr. A was rescued with the help of local expatriates, but his whole body was severely burned and his cornea was damaged.
Mr. A revealed that after fleeing the park, while waiting for the staff of the Korean Embassy at the Phnom Penh Police Station, he was surprised to see that members of criminal organizations still appeared leisurely at the police station. He said: "These people should have been investigated by the police, but they openly held guns, joked with the police chief and smoked cigarettes. I was shaking with fear."
The report pointed out that Cambodia has become a stronghold of criminal organizations focusing on international telecommunications fraud. These organizations use "overseas high-paying jobs" and "overseas employment" as bait to attract Korean youth to Cambodia, resulting in a continuous increase in the number of victims. Recently, this kind of criminal tactics has been further escalated, with cases of deceiving, kidnapping, imprisoning and abusing Korean entrepreneurs through false commercial advertisements, and using accounts under victims' names to launder money and transfer fraudulent funds overseas.
