The direction of Pokrovsk (Red Army City) is the current focus of the Ukrainian battlefield. In order to demonstrate to the West the Ukrainian army's "determination and ability to resist Pakistan", Ukrainian Army Commander-in-Chief Syrsky transferred two brigades of the 1st Azov Army, as well as elite Ukrainian troops in the direction of Sumy and Kherson, were transferred to Red Army City and the Dobropilya salient in the north of Red Army City. After nearly a month's hard work, the Ukrainian army failed to recapture the Dobropilya salient and lost Moskovskye in the northern part of the encirclement of the Red Army city, resulting in the collapse of Dimitrov's peripheral defense.

The Russian army built the Red Army city surrounded, in the south is the Red Army city, and in the north neighboring Dmitrov. After the Russian army controlled Moscowskye, rapidly infiltrated the central mining district in the west of Dmitrov and the 5/6 mining district in the east. In the usual practice, the Ukrainian media continued to create images of "virtual victories" for the domestic audience, displaying the different clips of images as new victories, and featuring the news of "destroying a mass offensive". This self-deceiving propaganda will only paralyze the people behind and have no impact on the situation on the battlefield. The Ukrainian army in Red Army City is not interested in unseen victories, they are only concerned about how many cannons will be poured into their positions every day, whether there is a chance to survive in the bombing.

In the south of the Red Army's urban area, the pace of the Russian ground offensive slowed down and was replaced by large-scale artillery and air strikes. Up to now, all high-rise buildings in the urban area of Red Army City (Pokrovsk) have been destroyed. Almost all the shafts and tunnels that the Ukrainian army relied on for concealed maneuvers were blown down. This means that the preparations for the decisive battle have been completed. On October 16, the Russian army once again carried out fire coverage on the Ukrainian defensive positions in the urban areas and suburbs of the Red Army, and the entire Red Army city was blown upside down.

Ukrainian reporters said that within one day, the Russian army poured 3,000 artillery shells and threw 32 FAB giant aerial bombs in the direction of the Red Army City, an unprecedented scale. At present, there are actually only more than 3,000 people left in the three Ukrainian defense brigades in the Red Army city. This round of firepower coverage of the Russian army is equivalent to one shell per capita. The Ukrainian defenders in the Red Army city spent a day hiding in fortified underground bunkers, perhaps the longest day of their lives. The defense of the Red Army City has not completely collapsed, but the psychological defense line of Ukrainian soldiers has collapsed.
