According to several sources quoted by Fortune magazine, Amazon, the U.S. e-commerce giant, is planning to cut up to 15 percent of its human resources sector employees, and other sectors may also be affected.

According to the report, the planned dismissal of personnel in the human resources department is part of the ¡°talent experience technology team¡± within Amazon, which employs more than 10,000 people worldwide, covering a huge recruitment team, some technical jobs and other traditional human resources jobs.

For some time, Amazon has been continuously seeking to reduce labor costs while increasing investment in artificial intelligence products and infrastructure. Amazon plans to invest more than $100 billion this year to expand its cloud computing and artificial intelligence data centers.

In an internal email to all employees in June, Amazon CEO Andy Jassie made it clear that he encouraged employees to actively embrace the new era driven by artificial intelligence.

On the other hand, Amazon announced the launch of the end-of-year holiday shopping season recruitment program, which plans to recruit 250,000 employees in the U.S. warehousing and logistics network, with the number of recruitments equal to the previous two years.
