Japan's ruling and opposition parties reach agreement on prime minister's election date

During the talks, the two sides also agreed on the session of the Interim Congress, which will be held from 21 October to 17 December.

According to the Japanese Constitution, the president of the ruling party must also be elected by the Prime Minister by name before he can become the Prime Minister of Japan. On the 15th, Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshima Hayashi announced that an interim parliament would be convened on the 21st, but the two parties in the ruling and opposition parties failed to reach an agreement on the prime minister's name for the election date.

The Japan Times that if the prime minister was elected, he would immediately formulate economic measures to curb the rising prices and plan to submit the supplementary budget for the fiscal year 2025 to Congress for consideration in early December.

Japan's prime minister's nomination elections are held in both houses of Congress, in the first round of voting, the majority of votes can be won directly, and if no one gets more than half the number of votes, then the top two votes will enter the second round of voting, the most votes won.
