On October 16, local time, the National Congress of People's Power of Cuba held a public hearing at the Capitol Building in Havana, the capital, to expose to the Cuban people and the international community the growing economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the U.S. government against Cuba and its consequences and condemn it. The hearing was chaired by Lasso, President of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba. Participants included lawmakers, scholars, legal experts, representatives of civil society organizations and representatives of the public directly affected by the U.S. blockade. It was pointed out many times at the meeting thatThe blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba constitutes an act of genocide and an "economic war in peacetime".

At the hearing, representatives from all walks of life listed the negative effects of the blockade on Cuba¡¯s medicines, medical equipment, food and other vital necessities.The U.S. has enforced laws with overseas effects that punish third countries and companies who maintain normal relations with Cuba, in violation of international law and the UN Charter.Participants agreed that it is necessary to strengthen the dissemination of the truth about Cuba's blockade on international occasions, and thanked the international community for its broad support for Cuba. Finally, Lasso stressed that the Cuban people must respond in a more United, tenacious and creative way, and Cuba will never give up its struggle for a comprehensive and unconditional lifting of the blockade.
