U.S. Attorney General sues Trump administration for withdrawal of solar project funding

On October 16, local time, attorneys general of more than a dozen states sued the Trump administration, accusing it of terminating $7 billion in funding for affordable solar projects across the United States. In the lawsuit, they claimed that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's cancellation of the "All Solar" program violated the laws and constitutional principles of separation of powers governing federal agencies.

It is that the lawsuits involved state prosecutors of California, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Hawaii, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Rhode Island and Vermont.

The “Popular Solar” plan, launched in 2022 by former U.S. President Biden, aims to enable one million Americans to use renewable energy. The mass tax and spending bill of U.S. President Trump passed a month after Congress, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency withdrew funding for the “Popular Solar” program in August, with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency chief Zeldin calling the plan “a waste of money.” Earlier this month, non-profit organizations and other groups filed lawsuits over funding for the “Popular Solar” project on similar grounds. This week, more than twenty Democratic senators also contacted Zeldin, calling for the project to be resumed.
