Breaking-News >> WorldNews Israel and Hamas accuse each other of failing to abide by ceasefire agreement
According to CCTV news, on the 16th local time, the Israeli government and the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) issued separate statements accusing each other of failing to abide by the first phase of the previously reached ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
An Israeli government spokesman said on Friday that Israel has been complying with the agreement since the ceasefire agreement was reached, fulfilling its obligations, and that Israel has demanded that Hamas also comply with the agreement, returning the remains of 19 Israeli detainees who have not yet been handed over. As of now, Hamas has handed over 10 remains of detainees to Israel, but Israel says one of them is not an Israeli detainee. The Prime Minister’s Office has previously said that as part of the implementation agreement, Hamas must return the remains of all detainees to Israel. Israel will not compromise on this issue. The Defence Minister’s office on the same day threatened that if Hamas fails to comply with the ceasefire agreement, Israel will resume military operations. Hamas said that finding the remains of detainees faces difficulties and takes time, because some of them are buried under the ruins of Israeli airstrikes and groundways, and there are also some remains located in Israeli military-controlled areas.
According to reports, the Israeli military's military operations in the Gaza Strip did not stop on the 16th. The Gaza Strip health department said that two people were killed when Israeli troops opened fire on Palestinians in Khan Younis, southern Gaza Strip. The Israeli army claimed that the two men walked out of the tunnel and approached the Israeli army, posing a "direct threat" to the Israeli army. In addition, the Israeli army also killed one person in the Buraij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip that day. A senior Hamas official said on Friday that several Israeli military operations have been launched in the Gaza Strip since the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement came into force and that at least 24 people have been killed.
