Filmore said: ¡°Our city has benefited greatly from trade exchanges, educational exchanges and cultural ties with China.¡±Halifax has close ties with China in the economic and trade sphere.Sea products are the pillar industries of trade with China in the province of New Scotland where Halifax is located, and the city government of Halifax works closely with industry associations and port authorities to provide logistics and infrastructure security for local seafood enterprises to expand the Chinese market.

Fillmore believes that Halifax and China have great potential for cooperation in marine science, clean energy, higher education and other fields. "Halifax has first-class scientific research strength and innovation ecosystem. By strengthening docking with China in these fields, we can work together to contribute to global challenges."

Filmore recalled that he had received foreign students from China at home as a young man, which gave him an understanding of Chinese culture from childhood.
