The National Police Department of Cambodia said on October 16 that it would return 59 South Korean citizens on October 17.

"They have either been rescued by Cambodian authorities or arrested for various crimes," the Cambodian National Police Directorate said in a press release. The South Korean citizens will be repatriated with the cooperation of the Korean Embassy in Cambodia.

Earlier, South Korean media cited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as saying that as of August, about 80 South Korean citizens in Cambodia were still missing.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hunan said on social media that he met in Phnom Penh with South Korean Foreign Ministry Second Secretary (Vice Secretary) Kim Jong-il to discuss joint efforts to combat cyber fraud.

He said: ¡°Cambodia will continue to strengthen cooperation to prevent, prevent and combat cyber fraud more effectively and to contribute toining peace, public order and social security.¡±

Cambodia's Committee to Combat Online Fraud said on the 15th that the country has arrested 3,455 online fraud suspects in the past four months, and the arrested suspects are from 20 countries, including South Korea.
