Fan Qin is a 28-year-old native of Wuhu, Anhui Province and a university teacher; Yu Xiaopeng, 25-year-old native of Weihai, Shandong Province, works in Wuhu, Anhui Province. The two are not in a couple relationship, but travel together because of their common hobbies.
They departed from Hefei on September 30, via Kuala Lumpur, and arrived in Kota Kinabalu on October 2. Originally scheduled to return to China on October 6th.
At 2:14 p.m. on October 4, the two entered the Silk Beauty Fish Resort and planned to leave the house the next day.
However, on the evening of 5 October, the hotel staff found that the two did not leave the house on time and the luggage was still in the room, and the police investigation found that the two did not receive the diving equipment and did not eat at the hotel.
The last time they were witnessed, the men were wearing black long sleeves and long pants, and the women were wearing black short sleeves and shorts.
