Ministry of Commerce: Continue to advance the WTO Dispute Case of China vs. the United States on the Inflation Reduction Act

At the regular press conference held by the Ministry of Commerce this afternoon, the spokesperson responded to the latest developments in the recent WTO dispute case involving China vs. the United States on the Inflation Reduction Act.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce said that we noticed that the new energy vehicle subsidies under the "Inflation Cutting Law" have ended on September 30, the subsidy to use specific regional products such as the United States as a subsidy prerequisite, discriminating against WTO member products such as China, seriously violating WTO rules, is a trade protectionist practice of abuse of subsidy policies.

At the same time, we have noted that the United States has not ended other illegal measures such as subsidies for clean energy in the case of the Inflation Reduction Law in the World Trade Dispute. In this regard, China will continue to advance the lawsuit in accordance with the WTO rules, firmly defend the legitimate interests of domestic industry, and firmly uphold the rules-based multilateral trade system, and we look forward to the WTO expert group's fair decision.

(President of the Republic of China Liu Xiaobo)
