Why not intercept the "drug trafficking ship" in the waters near Venezuela? Trump argued that their boats are faster and some are "world-class speedboats"

[World Wide Web Reporter Li Sa] Since September this year, the Trump administration has announced that it has sunk five so-called "drug carriers" in international waters off Venezuela and killed 27 "drug dealers." According to US media reports such as the American Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) and Political News Network, US President Trump was asked in an interview at the White House on October 15 local time why he did not send the US Coast Guard to intercept the ship to confirm whether there were drugs and drug dealers on board.

“We’ve been doing this for 30 years, but it’s completely useless.Their ships are faster, some are even world-class fastboats,” Trump defended his administration’s decision, “but they’re faster than just missiles.”

Some netizens expressed doubts about Trump's response. ↓

"'Faster boat 'doesn't mean you can kill people."

"Is this related to the speed of the ship?"

“It’s illegal and he’s lying.”

Earlier this month, the Trump administration submitted a memorandum to Congress stating that the U.S. and a drug trafficking group identified as a terrorist organization were “in a non-international armed conflict”. The memorandum did not specify which drug trafficking groups were involved, nor did it specify how to identify individual targets as members of a drug trafficking group. Several U.S. Congressional Democrats accused the Trump administration of using the military to fight drug trafficking groups as abuse of power and did not provide “any credible legal basis, evidence or intelligence”.
