The military takes over, the president does not recognize ... the crisis in Madagascar continues

Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, October 15-A Malagasy military official announced at the presidential palace in the center of Antananarivo, the capital, on the 14th that the Malaysian national defense and security forces had officially taken over the state power. The night before yesterday, Madagascar President Rajoelina also made a video speech on social media, saying that he had moved to a "safe place" due to threats to personal safety, saying that he would still be responsible for domestic affairs.

Officer Michel Randriañera, who previously led the camp riot, said in a read-out of the takeover statement that the military decided to formally take over the regime under the premise that “the Constitution was not respected” and that it would suspend the implementation of the existing Constitution and dissolve all public institutions other than the National Assembly, including the Senate, the Supreme Constitutional Court, the Independent Electoral Commission and so on.

Earlier on the 14th, the presidential palace of Madagascar issued a decree via social media announcing the dissolution of the National Assembly under the Constitution. Subsequently, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Randy Nassoloniako, questioned the "legality" of the decree. That afternoon, the National Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia continued to hold a special session to "play neglect" accusations of pushing the vote, through impeachment against Rajolina. Among the 131 deputies attending the vote, 130 voted in favour, 1 abstained.

"We have the power," Landrianirina said on state radio.

Nirina then told media reporters that a committee led by the military would lead the country with the transitional government before organizing new elections, with a time cycle expected to be two years.

Since September 25, mass demonstrations have erupted in several cities in Madagascar, such as Tananarivo, in protest of frequent water shortages. On October 11, a troop camp in southern Tananarivo was stirred up, with some soldiers joining the demonstration and demanding that LaJolina resign. On October 12, the troops announced the takeover of military command and the presidential palace issued a written statement condemning the ongoing “illegal attempt to seize power”.

Randy Nirina, a commander of the force, played a key role in supporting the 2009 coup before breaking up with La Giolina last week.

The similarities between the two coups were strong, AFP said, as the troops also joined the wave of anti-government protests 16 years ago against then-President Ravallumanna, forcing him to exile abroad.

It has been that Lacollina left Madagascar with the help of France, and that his French citizenship has also aggravated the dissatisfaction of the youth group with him.

La Jolina has made it clear that he “has the mission to find a solution to the political crisis” and will not step down and will not allow the country to “self-destroy”.

Since independence, the political turmoil in Madagascar has continued and has intensified in recent years. In early 2009, the then president of Madagascar, Laval Lumana, came to power and fled abroad under the pressure of the agitated army, and opposition leader La Jolina declared himself president. In September 2011, the main political factions signed a roadmap to resolve the crisis. At the end of 2013, Ma held a presidential election and Erie won. Due to the long-term factionalism of the political arena, the political situation has not been fully restored to stability.
