On October 15, local time, the Israeli Defense Forces decided to reopen to the public Zikim Beach near the northern border of the Gaza Strip for the first time since October 7, 2023.

The Israeli Defense Forces said that after a new assessment, Israeli Defense Forces Chief of Staff Eyar Zamil approved the proposal of the Southern Command, in coordination with the regional committee, to decide to reopen Zikim Beach to the public, and to cancel the military ban zone implemented in the region since the beginning of the conflict.
