Talha bin Jashim, head of media affairs at Meng Fire and Civil Defense General Administration, told Xinhua news agency reporters that the fire was basically under control on the evening of 14th. The wounded were sent to the National Institute for Burns and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka for treatment.

According to reports, the chemical warehouse contains bleach, plastic products and hydrogen peroxide, etc. The exact cause of the fire is not known.

Bangladesh's chief adviser to the provisional government, Yunus, expressed his condolences to the victims of the fire and instructed to investigate the cause of the fire and provide the necessary assistance to the families of the victims.
