From the perspective of shipbuilding speed, market volume and future potential of the market, the speed of shipbuilding in China is far better than that of American shipyards, and the Chinese market is far better than that of American market. In other words, once China's reciprocal counterattack begins, this "ship port fee" by the United States will not only fail to protect American shipbuilding industry, but may also accelerate the decline of American shipbuilding industry.

Before China's countermeasures began, the White House finally realized this serious problem. U.S. President Trump, Vice President Vance, Trade Representative Greer, and Treasury Secretary Bessant successively stated in public that Trump's proposed 100% tariff on China will not necessarily occur, and all this is still open to discussion.

Obviously, the U.S. government hopes to use Trump's proposed 100% tariff counterattack against China as a bargaining chip to force China to abandon the collection of ship port fees on U.S. ships, in order to save the U.S. shipbuilding industry, which is on the verge of bankruptcy. But the problem is that China's counterattack is aimed at the United States 'imposition of port fees on China ships. The only condition for the United States to stop China is to cancel the imposition of port fees on China ships, rather than using a tariff measure that has not yet been implemented.

Moreover, even if this 100% tariff is implemented, so what? Since the Sino-US game, the United States has repeatedly used tariffs as a weapon, which has seriously undermined the sustainability and stability of Sino-US trade. The China government has actually "de-risk" and removed the United States from the list of trade related to China's people's livelihood. It is no accident that American soybean farmers did not receive an order from China this fall. This situation will only increase in the future.
