Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro announced on the 13th local time,Three comprehensive defense zones will be launched at 0:00 on the 14th in the country's Nova Esparta, Sucre and Amakuro DeltasTo strengthen the defence capabilities of Venezuela’s Atlantic and Caribbean coasts.
Maduro said on his weekly television program "Walking with Maduro" that the operation was aimed at consolidating national sovereignty and territorial integrity. The deployment is part of a sustained defense plan that aims to keep the country "always prepared to maintain sovereignty and independence peacefully and win the lives and happiness of its people." Maduro also stressed that the government will promote national defense deployment to ensure that the country moves steadily on the road to peace and independence.
The recent tensions between Venezuela and the United States have persisted.Since the beginning of September, the United States has deployed several warships in the Caribbean waters near Venezuela to "fight Latin American drug trafficking groups".Maduro has accused the United States of intending to change the regime in Venezuela through military threats and conduct military expansion in Latin America.
