The ITER Director-General praised the Chinese participant's "reliance": China's construction part has either been successfully delivered or is progressing smoothly.

[Global Times-Global Network Reporter Fan Wei] On October 14, the 2nd Ministerial Meeting of the World Fusion Energy Group and the 30th Fusion Energy Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency officially opened in Chengdu. This conference attracted nearly 2,000 experts, scholars and industry representatives in the field of fusion energy research and engineering from 61 countries and international organizations around the world, including Russia, the United States, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Morocco, and Ethiopia. Pietro Barabaski, Director-General of the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) Organization, praised China's participants as "reliable" in an interview with the Global Times and other media. He said that in the ITER project, China's contribution is impressive. "All the construction parts undertaken by China have either been successfully delivered or are progressing smoothly."

The International Thermonuclear Fusion Laboratory (ITER) is one of the world’s largest and most impactful international research cooperation projects after the International Space Station. ITER is a superconducting token that produces a massive nuclear fusion reaction and takes about 10 years to build.

Shan Zhongde, director of the National Atomic Energy Agency, said in his keynote speech at the opening ceremony. The ITER program of the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor carries the good wishes of mankind for the peaceful use of nuclear fusion energy, and is one of the most important international scientific projects in the world today. As one of the key partners of the ITER program, China has always abided by its international commitments and implemented the design and manufacture of 18 key components and systems undertaken with high quality, as well as the installation tasks of core equipment. This year, the vacuum module components of the ITER core installation bid section led by China were successfully installed in place, and the ITER magnet support system, cladding shielding module, magnet feeder system and other large equipment components developed by China were delivered as scheduled, helping to promote the implementation of the ITER plan.

"China's contribution to ITER is impressive. I think China has been doing a good job in this respect. China's contribution has been increasing, not only in the delivery of components, but all components under China's responsibility have either been delivered or are progressing smoothly." Pietro Barabaski said, more importantly, ITER has also undergone major changes because of the contribution of Chinese companies. "Thanks to our cooperation with China's CNNC, we can better carry out the assembly of ITER."

As an international research cooperation project involving 35 countries and implemented jointly by China, the European Union, India, Japan, South Korea, Russia and the United States, the construction of ITER also faces many challenges. Petro Barabaski said that from a personal perspective, it is very amazing that humans can continue to collaborate on the ITER project.

"Because in our project, more than half of the staff are highly talented people, and their countries don't always get along well with each other, but when they come to ITER and start their work, you will see that everyone has the same goal. So this is a project of hope, a project of peace." Pietro Barabaski believes that ITER can enable people from different countries to work together to form a common culture, which is also a great achievement.

"At present, humanity faces global challenges such as climate change, energy security, and more than ever, need to unite, collaborate and open and share," Singh said, "It is difficult for any country to independently solve all difficulties, or enjoy all innovations, China will work with the International Atomic Energy Agency, ITER Organization and other countries in the world to continuously promote global energy innovation and sustainable development, promote harmonious coexistence between people and nature, and contribute to the construction of a clean, beautiful and sustainable world, China's wisdom, China's program, China's strength, so that the transformation can better benefit mankind and enable to build a community of human destiny."
