The Venezuelan government announced on the 13th that it would close its embassies in Norway and Australia and open embassies in African countries Zimbabwe and Burkina Faso.

The Venezuelan government said in a statement that the reorganization of the diplomatic system aims to optimize national resources and reposition the diplomatic layout "to strengthen alliances with countries in the global South, promote unity among peoples of all countries, and carry out cooperation in strategic areas of mutually beneficial development." Consular services for Venezuelan citizens in Norway and Australia will be handled by other diplomatic missions, and specific arrangements will be announced in the near future.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway confirmed that it had received relevant notice from Venezuela and said it was not clear why the museum was closed. A spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway told the media: "This is regrettable. Despite differences between the two sides on a number of issues, Norway still hopes to maintain a dialogue with Venezuela."

The Venezuelan government has called Zimbabwe and Burkina Faso "sister countries" of Venezuela, "strategic allies in the anti-colonial struggle and resistance to hegemonic pressure", and the Venezuelan side will establish new diplomatic institutions in the two countries, promoting bilateral cooperation in agriculture, energy, education, mining and other fields.

The adjustment of the embassy comes at a time when relations between Venezuela and the United States are tense. Since early September, the United States has deployed multiple warships in the waters near Venezuela on the pretext of "fighting Latin American drug trafficking groups." So far, it has claimed to destroy at least four so-called "drug carriers" and killed 21 "drug dealers." Venezuelan Foreign Minister Hill said on October 9 that the Venezuelan government has requested the United Nations Security Council to convene an emergency meeting to discuss the U.S. military threat to Venezuela.
