Buckingham Palace in the UK announced on October 13 local time that German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier will pay a state visit to the UK from December 3 to 5. This will be the first time in 27 years that a German head of state has paid a state visit to the UK.
As Buckingham Palace is undergoing repairs, King Charles III and Queen Camilla will host German delegations throughout the trip to Windsor Castle to strengthen alliances and deepen economic and trade cooperation, including political talks, business conferences and traditional diplomatic ceremonies such as royal welcome ceremonies, national banquet and military parades.
This visit is based on the Kensington Treaty signed this summer, which clearly states that a direct railway from London to Berlin will be established, and plans to promote cooperation in various fields such as inter-school exchanges, military cooperation, business investment and combating illegal immigration.
Germany's last state visit to Britain dates back to December 1998, when then-President Herzog became the first foreign head of state to visit after the Windsor Castle fire. At the state banquet that year, the late Queen Elizabeth II emphasized the importance of international cooperation between the two countries through the EU and NATO. (General reporter Chen Zhansheng)
