On the 13th local time, the French National Financial Prosecutor's Office summoned former French President Nicolas Sarkozy and informed him of specific arrangements such as the location and start time of serving his sentence of five years in prison in the "Libya Campaign Finance Case." Sarkozy served as French president from 2007 to 2012. On September 25th, the Paris Criminal Court ruled that Sarkozy was guilty of "conspiracy" between 2005 and 2007, allowing his cronies and political supporters to seek financial support from former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi in the 2007 presidential election. The court sentenced him to five years' imprisonment, some of which can be executed at home by electronic surveillance.

Sarkozy insisted that he was "innocent" after the trial and said he would appeal the verdict.
