Lukashenko warns Ukraine may "no longer exist" and accuses Zelensky of stagnating negotiations

According to the Ukrainian newspaper Kiev Independent, Belarus President Lukashenko warned in an interview on Monday that unless Ukrainian President Zelensky "sits down to negotiate and take urgent action", Ukraine "may cease to exist as a state".

The report quoted Lukashenko as saying that he had previously blamed European leaders for failing to reach an agreement, but now he believed that "the problem is not with the United States... nor with Russia... but with Vladimir Zelensky." Lukashenko said strong pressure should be exerted on Zelensky to make an "appropriate" decision.

“We must act urgently,” Lukashenko said, adding, “Russia is advancing in the front line, and I say this responsibly, because I am observing the situation every day, which could lead to the disappearance of Ukraine as a nation.”

The report mentioned that Lukashenko also called the situation "very serious" and urged immediate dialogue to prevent further escalation of the situation.

Ukraine has not yet responded to the above news.

On October 10 local time, Russian presidential press secretary Peskov said in an interview with Russian media that the Russian-Ukrainian negotiation process was currently suspended due to Ukrainian reasons. Ukraine did not respond to the draft memorandum on Russia's resolution of the conflict in Ukraine and the proposal of Russia to set up three working groups. Therefore, Russia could not prepare for the summit between the two countries. Peskov also said that the role of the Russian-Ukrainian President's Alaska meeting in promoting diplomatic dialogue between the two countries remains, and US President Trump still has a political will to peacefully settle the Ukraine issue. Russia is optimistic about this.

Ukrainian President Zelensky said in a social media post on October 11 that he had had a “good and productive” conversation with Trump on the same day, focusing on strengthening Ukrainian air defense capabilities. Zelensky said he to Zelensky the situation of Russian attacks on the Ukrainian energy system, and the two sides discussed the possibility of strengthening Ukrainian air defense capabilities and the agreement reached in preparation for this.
