Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban: Ukraine and the EU see Hungary as a hassle and attempt to change government

On October 10, local time, Hungarian Prime Minister Orban expressed his views on the relationship between Hungary and Ukraine. Orban believes that Ukrainians want Europe to get involved and fund the Russia-Ukraine conflict at all costs, and Hungary is the obstacle to all this.

According to CNN news reports, Orban pointed out in an interview that Ukraine sees Hungary as a "barrier" in many ways, "there is little doubt about what the Ukrainians want. They want Europe to get involved in their war at all costs. Today, there is a barrier, that is Hungary. Ukrainians will clearly say that they need money to support their army, they can't sustain their country, they can't pay pensions, wages, so they need money. They tell us directly, give us money, there is also a barrier, it's called Hungary."

Orban said: “So the Ukrainians claim that they want the Hungarian government to change. Brussels and Ukraine are cooperating in this regard, and both want the Hungarian government to change and support a pro-Brussels and Ukrainian government.”

Orban also added that Ukrainian intelligence agencies are active in Hungary and have integrated into some key areas locally, even politics.

Orban delivered a speech on Hungarian Radio Kossuth on the 3rd, saying that the EU should sign a strategic partnership agreement with Ukraine rather than accept its accession to the EU. He emphasized that Hungary opposes accelerating the process of Ukraine's accession to the EU and believes that the two sides can achieve deeper cooperation through partnership.

Orban said that Hungary does not want to interfere in the geopolitical reality of Ukraine, nor want to be involved in a conflict with Russia. He believes that the way the EU currently deals with the conflict in Ukraine will plunge itself into war.

Orban also expressed his views on the recent drone dispute. Orban believes that the witness of a suspected Hungarian drone over Ukraine is not a big deal. "It doesn't matter at all whether two, three, four or zero Hungarian drones crossed the border," he said on a podcast, saying Ukraine should focus on Russian drones on its eastern border.

Orban said he agreed with Defense Minister Soloy-Bobrovnitsky Krishtov's refutation of Ukraine's allegations, adding: "Assuming they did fly a few meters into Ukraine, so what?" Ukraine is not an "independent country" and therefore should not "act like a sovereign country." He also said that the West uses military aid to maintain Ukraine's survival. If the West no longer provides funds,"Ukraine will collapse."

Orban: EU officials are running around like panicked chickens, Europe is over

According to a report by "Russia Today RT" on September 21, Hungarian Prime Minister Orban accused the EU leadership of mismanagement on key issues such as economy, immigration, and security at an event on the 20th, causing the EU to decline.

Orban, speaking at the event of the Hungarian conservative cyber organization Digital Citizenship, noted that the EU was on the verge of collapse due to the failure of its current leadership.

Expounding the EU's predicament, Orban painted a grim picture: "Mountains of debt, swarming immigrants, street violence, the growing shadow of war, mass layoffs, skyrocketing common utility expenses, impoverished families, bureaucrats in Brussels scurrying around like panicked chickens."

Orban pointed out that the European Union has not established the image of a credible global major power, on the contrary, the European Union has not only failed to meet the challenges, but has become a symbol of weakness, euphoria and internal chaos.

He criticized EU Commission President Von der Leyen’s trade agreement with the United States, calling it “unfortunate” and adding that the EU’s green policy is “sucking down” its industry.Orban said Europe’s energy prices are three to four times that of the United States, while debt levels in countries like France are approaching a “unsustainable” critical point.

“The Europe we know and love is over,” Orban warned, “if we deny it, we will continue to waste time, and we will only speak out loud to fight for time.”

According to a press release issued on the official website of the Hungarian Prime Minister, Orban compared the European leadership to a broken GPS navigation system in his speech, constantly re-planning the route, but never reaching the destination.

“Russia Today RT” noted that while Orbán’s criticism of the EU was sharp, it reflected widespread concerns among economists and analysts. Experts from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and other agencies warned that European economic growth could face the risk of stagnation.

The IMF previously predicted that the economic growth of the euro zone will be only 1.0% in 2025 and 1.2% in 2026; Public debt is close to 90% of GDP, while the deficit continues to exceed 3%, well above pre-pandemic levels.

Information on the European Union flag

According to reports, Orban compared Hungary's practice with that of the European Union in his speech on the 20th, pointing out that Budapest has adopted stricter immigration control measures, implemented a family policy linked to employment, and a tax system to support job seekers.

“We must openly show in Brussels that we reject the path that Brussels has set for us,” Orban said, pointing out that if Hungary goes the path of Brussels, it means that the money of the Hungarian people will be sent to Ukraine, meaning that taxes will increase.

Orban said: “The road of Brussels is doomed to fail, the national road is the guarantee of Hungary’s future.”
