Madagascar's president says there are attempts to'seize power by illegal force 'in the country

On October 12, local time, Madagascar President Andry Rajoelina issued a statement saying that "some people are trying to seize power illegally and by force on the territory of the Republic, which completely violates the Constitution and democratic principles."

On October 11, some soldiers joined the mass protests. Some rebels announced that they would take control of all the military forces in the country. On that day, Prime Minister Zafisamboo called on the government to engage in dialogue with all parties and strengthen unity.
